DAGU Rice Noodle

In the middle of the Ming Dynasty, in the vibrant spring city of Kunming, Yunnan, there was a small, nameless restaurant near the Drum Tower (Dagu). Following local customs, the city’s officials and citizens would ring the towering eight-foot drum in the Drum Tower to celebrate joyful occasions. Afterward, they would gather at this humble restaurant for a bowl of steaming hot rice noodle soup.

Rice noodles, symbolizing success and longevity, became a cherished part of the city’s celebrations. With the joyous drum sounds and the loyal craftsmanship of the restaurant owner, this small eatery thrived for over a century. It became the foundation of what we now know as Dagu Rice Noodles.
